CyberTAN to Set Up R&D Center in Shanghai
November 23, 2007
Taiwan-based broadband and wireless networking equipment manufacturer CyberTAN announced in mid-November that it will spend US$2 million on the establishment of an R&D center in Shanghai, China, according to Chinese-language Economic Daily News.

CyberTAN's new Shanghai facility will be dedicated to the R&D of new data communication technologies. Its location is near Taiwanese EMS (Electronics Manufacturing Services) supplier Foxconn's Shanghai production center. With this facility, CyberTAN is expected to strengthen its position as the primary data communications R&D arm of the Foxconn Group.

CyberTAN plans to start the shipping WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) CPE (Customer-Premises Equipment) from 2008. Definite time frame, however, has not been disclosed yet.
